The 2024/25 Season
In the most recent season, Bourque left his mark on the stats sheet, recording 11 goals and 14 assists in 73 regular-season games. He had a solid year, and it was clear that whenever he was given more trust and ice time, he responded well and gained confidence. He even played a few games on the first line alongside Roope Hintz and Evgenii Dadonov – and managed to score once in that role. With more minutes, it became clear he has the potential to one day become a true star.
In the playoffs, he didn’t have much of a chance to shine – he played just three games and didn’t register a point. But what more can you expect from a 23-year-old for whom everything was still new? What stood out, though, was his presence every time he hit the ice. He contributed defensively, won battles, and helped drive the offense.
Can Bourque Step Up in the Upcoming Season and Earn His First Playoff Points?
This is a question we’ll be able to answer as the season unfolds. Bourque, who will be an RFA after the upcoming campaign, will definitely need to prove himself and show Dallas he’s worth keeping long-term. With a new head coach coming in and introducing a different playing style, it will also be interesting to see how the players adjust – a factor that could be crucial for Bourque’s development.
If he manages to increase his production in the regular season compared to last year, that confidence could easily carry into the playoffs, where he might finally pick up his first points. There’s no doubt we’ll be rooting for him to succeed and play a bigger role in the postseason.
Mavrik Bourque has enormous potential, something that has been recognized across the NHL. This past summer, several teams, including the Seattle Kraken and Vancouver Canucks, reportedly showed interest in him. Dallas should definitely try to hold onto this young talent, but with the Stars’ cap situation, it will be interesting to see how everything plays out.
